Several weeks ago we called the Union High School to find out what facilities they might have available for the citizen training that we are planning for next month. Someone from the superintendent’s office called informing us that new theater would be an option, but that there is a rather large daily fee to rent it out. He also told me that there was a possibility that the fee could be waived if we were a not-for-profit group. He then said that the school board would have to make the final decision whether to waive the fee or not.
I received a phone call from this gentlemen Wednesday morning suggesting that one of our members be present at the meeting on Wednesday evening to explain to the board what the purpose of our training would be. I was unable to attend, so I asked another member and Union resident, Janet, to represent us. When she arrived at the meeting she was met by 20+ people there soley for the purpose of discrediting the Franklin County Patriots and convincing the school board not to allow the fee to be waived for us. Apparently one of their primary arguments was the fact that we have links to individuals and groups on our web page that are opposed to personal property taxes, as though the hundreds of thousands of dollars that our members pay each year to property taxes should be disregarded since we believe that our federal government is too big and our taxes are too high. I personally take offense to the their idea that city or county facilities would not be available to the hundreds of tax-paying Franklin County Patriot members.
To be clear, we never asked for charity from the school. The idea that the fee may be waived was offered to us from someone at the superintendent’s office. We are still eligible to use the theater if we pay the $900 fee.
So what brought out these 20+ zealous Americans? Reading this article should clarify for you. As anyone who is familiar with the Franklin County Patriots will know, this article is full of lies. These libs have become so accustomed to living off of government handouts that they cannot believe that a group such as ours could actually be funded BY THE PEOPLE! The lies, crude speech and hateful words have become par for the course for these people.
We were very clear to the school official that our meeting will be strictly educational and non-partisan, although they apparently do not believe this. I hope that you will do all that you can to educate our local school officials on what the Franklin County Patriots are all about. You can see that that they are clearly being fed lies from these other groups.
It is more important than ever that we continue to stand for the principles on which our nation was founded. Read the article below for the next opportunity to stand up tonight for the common goals of the Franklin County Patriots – Less Government, More Freedom.

Ridiculous. If you guys are going to pursue this any further, let us know when to attend the next board meeting. I think we can come up with more attendees than the progressives since Obama lost 55% to 43% in Franklin County.
Have you called East Central College?
Why are you guys so bent on getting in for free? This is a political group no matter how you hash it. We should have to pay just like anybody else. And what’s with the “lib” talk? This is childish.
Rob,
Let’s forbid anyone try to save money right? After all, this is America and its not like we should be fiscally responsible or anything like that, that’s crazy (please note that this sarcasm is intended to drive home a point, not to be childish, I would not dare to offend as that may be considered harsh, inconsiderate, or even incriminate me for perpetrating a “hate-crime”). No one is “bent” on getting in for free, but if it was a possible, why not try?
This organization has not once endorsed or provided any time to a single political candidate, political party, or politician. If you would pay attention, you may notice that the only spectrum of our government getting any attention at all is the US Constitution. I believe that would be considered NON-PARTISAN, and that, my friend does not make you political, it makes you aware.
Please understand that we just want the Federal Government to abide by its part of the Constitutional contract and NOT exceed the powers enumerated to them in ART I SEC 8 or the 10th Amendment. YES WE CAN govern ourselves better than a central government can and that is the “CHANGE” we can believe in!
I was a the meeting and far from being “met” by so-called liberals, those who opposed the free use of public facilities for political groups (not I did not say PARTY political groups) sat quietly listening. Two people put the opposing case, one on the grounds that if you open free use to one political group, then you have to open the facilities to all political groups, no matter how unsavory some of them might be. The other, a retired professor, put the tax case.
As for suggestions that those present were in some way free-loaders, I know of two veterans … one of whom gave almost a quarter of a century of his life to defending this country… a couple of retired professors, a receptionist… in fact, every single one of them has more than paid their dues in taxes but it would take too long to list all their professions.
The bottom line – your group wanted to use facilities free of charge when other groups have to pay. That was the reason for opposition and the opposition was exceedingly respectful.
So the Franklin County Patriots are a-political? I’m sorry but that’s simply not the case as anyone who attended the tea-party in Union could both see and hear. My point is that the Franklin County Democrats were fully within their rights to see that every group got fair and equal treatment. And might I remind you that when you submitted the form, you marked for-profit on the form. Why you did, I have no idea. Is this a for-profit organization???
