What Are These Corner Protests?

After sending out an email today about the protest on the corner of Hwy 47 & Hwy 50 in Union tomorrow (Friday), we received this question: “What is the 99 corners project?” This was briefly discussed at the Labor Day TEA Party, and has been brought up on our web page and forum in the past couple of months, but so many of you have joined recently that it deserves to be explained again.

In fact, our email list has grown by over 200 people in the past two weeks alone! You will find that we will not bombard you with emails. Our inboxes are full enough already! It is extremely unusual for us to send out two emails in a day, but with the corner protest beginning in Franklin County tomorrow, we thought it was necessary.

The 99 Corners Project was started by a 67 year-old lady in O’Fallon by the name of Janet Allquist. Janet spoke for a few minutes on Labor Day about the support that she has received since beginning her protest by herself a few months ago. If you would like more information on what exactly these protests are, read this article from the St. Louis TEA Party Website.

Join Wanda and Geri tomorrow (Friday)evening at 5:45 at the corner of Hwy 50 & Hwy 47 in Union in front of Walgreens.
