Our Basic Training for Activism this past Saturday, was a great success. The training event was attended by well over one hundred citizens, eager to learn about personal involvement in the political process.

Thomas Smith, one of the founders of Franklin County Patriots, presented an overview of the vision and objectives of the organization, as well as practical ways citizens can be active. Dr. Charles Curtman, history professor, gave a very helpful overview of how government is designed to work—from local, county, state, and federal government levels. Catherine Bleish of The Liberty Restoration Project spoke on how citizens can influence legislation and elected officials. Jedidiah Smith, Franklin County Patriots, gave a demonstration of how social media can be used as an effective tool in communicating with other patriots and also those who are representing us in public service. Cindy McGee, member of Show Me Patriots gave current updates on a variety of legislative measures.
In addition to being attended by scores of citizens from Franklin, Crawford, Warren, St. Louis, and St. Charles counties, a number of elected officials and current candidates were also present.
The Basic Training was co-sponsored by several area groups including Show Me Patriots, Eureka Tea Party, Concerned Women of America, I Heard the People Say, and Franklin County Patriots.
We plan to have video from the event on our website soon for those who were unable to attend the training. Thank you to everyone who was involved with the coordinating of the event.
