Well, folks, after much deliberation I have decided to start a personal blog. I have fought it for several months for different reasons, primarily the time factor. By “personal,” I do not mean blogging on personal issues necessarily, but rather subjects that are not official Franklin County Patriots’ positions.
While I still firmly believe that the Franklin County Patriots will best serve its members by remaining strictly non-partisan and by not endorsing candidates, each of us has a civic responsibility to choose the best candidate in each of the races that affect us and to do everything possible to get those people elected.
This blog will give more freedom to express opinions in addition to the facts. Although national headlines will find their way into the page from time to time, the focus will be on a state and local level.
The design will probably continue to change until I find something satisfactory, but there is too much happening right now to wait for a perfectly designed web page.
I will also welcome guest columns from time to time for those interested in reporting on local issues. There are many great Missouri bloggers already, so this page will highlight those as well.
Some of the articles will be cross-posted on the Franklin County Patriots web site, but they will be completely separate entities. Fresh content is always encouraged, so feel free to submit an article of local interest there as well.
The name chosen – Restoring Principles – should be self-explanatory. Every day politics becomes less about principle and more about power and greed. Decisions are made and bills are passed to satisfy corporate interests or ensure politicians’ reelection rather than being based on conviction or principle. America needs a restoration to the founding principles that guided our forefathers. So visit RestoringPrinciples.com, and let’s work together to restore principles and honor to our country and our great state.

I have attended two Lincoln Day Dinners and have spoken to several people on the Republican Committee and no one mentioned the other primary candidates for Senate.
During the Lincoln Day Dinner in Union Kit Bond asked everyone to vote for Rep Roy blunt for the Senate seat. Not a mention of the other candidates who are also candidates for the primmary.
The GOP has already decided for us ,I guess.
I hope everyone searches out the other candidates and at least listen to what they all have to say before we are all just hearded to the polls without a choice. That is how it seems to me….like it always is..Lets decide for ourselves. The republican party does not decide for me and hopefully you either.
I want a fresh voice out there, not just the same ole same ole. That is why the republicans lost the last election.
For anyone interested, there is a list of questions (and the answers), that were
presented to the candidates who participated in the last U.S. Senate Candidate Forum in Jefferson City, on Ruth Carlson’s Blog. http://ruthcarlson.blogspot.com
