At the Tax Day Tea Party last Thursday in Washington, MO, I spoke on the necessity of each of us becoming true activists in order for us to be successful in November. Everyone knows that I love Tea Parties, but rallies in themselves will not bring a conservative victory in 2010. All of us have different gifts and skills, and we must use those skills for liberty this year. Some have amazing artistic abilities; others are eloquent speakers or gifted writers. Some have the wonderful gift of time at their disposal.
The next phase of activism that we want to implement will be local blogging teams. We would like to see at least one Franklin County Patriot at every school board meeting, every city council meeting, and every other event of interest in the community.
In order for this effort to work, many volunteers must be willing to give of their time and talents. You do not have to be an experienced journalist to attend a meeting and report what you see.
As many of you know, several months ago we divided Franklin County into five regions (Washington, Union, Sullivan, St. Clair and Pacific). A group of dedicated patriots in these regions meet regularly to plan upcoming events and strategize about how best to move forward with our cause. One of their goals has been to attend as many of these local government meetings as possible. What will be even more effective than simply attending is to blog about the meetings. This would be a great public service to the people in our community.
Many people would love to know what is discussed and decided at these meetings, but attending is just not a priority to most. That is where our blogging teams come in. We attend the meetings, take notes, and write a short recap of each. We will then post the articles to our website for our members and those in the community to read.
It should be obvious to the readers that this job is much bigger than one or two people. We need many people who would be willing to volunteer one or two nights a month to this cause. Ideally we would have a couple of bloggers in each town in order to share the responsibility.
The only requirement for this is the willingness to serve. As has already been stated, you do not need to be an excellent writer to take notes. If you are willing to volunteer your time and take notes but are not ready for your writings to be made public, we will have others who will edit your work or write the article for you if you prefer.
As I said Thursday night, we must step outside the boundaries of our comfort zone if we are going to win. Attending these meetings and blogging about them will no doubt be outside the comfort zones of many, but America is worth it.
If you are willing to make an effort at informing our community and keeping our elected officials accountable, then please join us. You can let us know by using the “Get Involved” link at the top of our web page and writing “Local Blogging Team” in the “How Can You Help” field.
Obviously you do not need to live in Franklin County to participate in this. For those in Crawford County, Warren County, St. Louis County, Jefferson County or any other county, please join in this effort.
We are all needed. Thank you for your willingness to serve.

Greeting Jedidiah:
I have looked for something that I could do in this great movement that has been labeled as a tea party. I want to express my distain for the label “the Tea
Partiers” or “Tea Baggers” for I count you and all my other fellow citizens in Franklin County and beyond as “Patriot.” We are patriots that love their country and the Constitution in which out for father established to protect our rights. As patriots we also love the Bill of Rights especially because it defines our rights. So in closin I want to express my zealous desire to serve as a blogger for Pacific’s Board of Alderman. I may want to expand in the future but want to try these shoes on first. Thank you for your consideration.
A Servant of Men
