We need your help to make this Saturday a defining moment for the cause. You’ve got an opportunity to stand up for the principles of the Tea Parties. Below are the details of the demonstration in St. Louis that Tea Party members around the state will be participating in.
We are set to meet this Saturday, July 31, at 10:30am, on Watson Road between the GOP headquarters (located at 10825 Watson Rd) and Lindbergh, near where Michele Bachmann is scheduled to appear at a fundraiser for Rep. Blunt. We will line the sidewalks spread as far as possible to send a clear signal: Roy Blunt is not Tea Party. The Tea Party is pro-Constitution, pro-free market.
The reason for the uproar among the Tea Party members is simple. Michele Bachmann has a reputation of being Tea Party friendly, and has spoken clearly in favor of embracing the core values of the patriotic movement. Roy Blunt, on the other hand, because of his voting record as a U. S. Congressman, is not particularly popular among many Tea Party groups. Among other things, Blunt voted for the Bank Bailout (TARP), “Cash for Clunkers” and No Child Left Behind. Blunt is also well known for being one of the largest recipients of lobbyist contributions in Washington, D.C., including Fannie and Freddie.
Immediately after news about the Bachman visit was aired, Tea Party groups around the state began to contact her campaign office to express their concern. As a rule, Tea Party organizations do not endorse political candidates. At this time about thirty Tea Party organizations have officially signed a statement saying that they do not support or endorse Roy Blunt because of his big government voting record and lobbyist ties.
The purpose of the rally is not to condemn Michele Bachmann, who is respected by many conservatives. Nor is it to campaign for or endorse any other candidates for the U. S. Senate race in Missouri. We encourage people to bring signs, but ask that they not be anti-Bachmann or ant-GOP. We suggest signs that show Roy Blunt does not represent Tea Party values. Examples: “Bailing Out Banks is Not in the Constitution,” “Tea Party = Principles Before Politics,” and “A Friend of Fannie and Freddie is NO Friend of Mine.”
Parking is available on both sides of Watson Road.
In addition to the rally that will be held Saturday, several Tea Party groups have organized a rolling Tea Party that will begin in Eureka, Missouri. The rolling Tea Party is promoting Proposition C which will also be on the August 3 ballot, and will travel through several communities before arriving at the site of the demonstration in Sunset Hills. You are encouraged to participate if possible. For more information on the rolling tea party, see the details on the Eureka Tea Party website.

In consideration of resources during the last few critical hours we have to get the vote out for Prop C, and you choose to spend it on a street corner wasting time on anger over a Primary candidate? It is your choice but do you really think this is representing Principles? For Prop C, many have worked hard for months, door to door in the heat until our cloths soaked with sweat, followed by illness from overheating, hours and hours sacrificed… this is standing for Principles. I’m hoping many from the rolling tea party will decide to stop in Ellisville and detour over to Queeny Park & join us in getting out the vote for Prop C instead of wasting precious time on anger…
Arlene — I must disagree with you somewhat. I appreciate what you have done and I firmly believe most people have made up their minds on Prop “C” (and yes I am for it)
I agree with Jedidiah and we need numbers to show our disgust (my words) with Michelle for supporting Blunt -
politics never change, thus we have the mess we are in, for those in power do not support true conservatism.
Michelle Bachman was what I believed to be a true “tea party person” but now I have doubts as she surely knows Blunt’s votng record and it DOES NOT COINCIDE with the tea party. Yes we need her to see and know our discust with her — she could have just kept her mouth shut and not said anything.
Chuck Purgason is the best conservative candidate, but since he is not one of “the boys” the Republcans will not support him — only one person in the Missouri Senate supports him — who is the money boy Griesheimer supporting? — not a conservative!
As for me if Blunt wins the prmary, I will NOT vote for him and might even vote Democratic on that particular office. I am sick of the willy-nilly, wishy-washy people who say they are conservative.
I study my politics very closely and I will mention two conservatices that should get all of our votes. Ron Keeven and Chuck Purgason! Please vote conservatives!

I am actually quite disappointed…you say you do not support any particular candidate yet you are trying to swing the vote with this demonstration! I have been at EVERY TEA PARTY SINCE DAY 1!!!!! I WILL NOT JOIN THIS ONE!!!! Instead, I will be INSIDE THE CAMPAIGHN headquarters using their phones, phone banking for the Prop C vote on Aug. 3!!! You should exercise better judgement, pick your battles, and use this time to help us with the phone bank. Is this Tea Party I have been so proud to belong to becoming Politics as usual? I will make my own informed decision on the candidate of my choice on Aug. 3…I resent my Tea Party trying to tell me how to vote!Work on Prop C!!!
I don’t think either endeavor is a waste of time. They are both very important. Getting the word out there about Blunt may help get Perguson elected. As it stands now, Blunt is a shoe in and I’ve heard waaay too many Tea Partiers say that they’re voting for Blunt because they don’t want Carnahan to win. In other words, politics as usual, vote for the RINO!
Arlene, you mistake as anger what is actually a determination to stand up for conservative principles. If we had less of the likes of Roy Blunt in Washington, we might never have come to the point of requiring a Prop C in Missouri. Believe me, I have worked hard for Prop C too, and I see this demonstration as an extension of that work, NOT a waste of time.
I agree Jeddidah and Art. Blunt is all politics. I too will not vote for him. Unfortunatly he is basically given the primary by the media/party. We have to stop these career politicians early before they build up their machine. If they play the political game well they are hard to stop once they build up steam.
I want to vote for true conservatives and no wishy-washy politicians. Where can I find information to help me with this. With all the different races happening, it is difficult to even know who will be on my voting ticket.
One I am watching is Dick Straatman – I believe he is not conservative either- says he is, but I saw differently in his actions as mayor.
Travis –Thanks for your cogent remark. Let me give you my e-mail, lemier@earthlink.net and I can answer your questions as to candidates. You can also call me
636-742-4931 as I am tired of the politicians like Blunt and Straatman and Griesheimer. (Note I am not a member of the Franklin County Pstriots so I do not receive any preferential treatment in my posts)
I will not support Straatman, he is not really for the people. He has big money behind him, he is stating blatant lies about Nieves and if I had the money I would file a lawsuit against him, using my standing as a registered voter. My biggest complaint against him is the “red light camera” ordinance. It is a violation of the Constitution, notwithstanding the fact that it might help catch violators. We have to stand on our Constitution.
Time is short and of the essence and we conservatives (I am ultra conservative)have to know the people running and that is what the tea party and FCP are trying to do – educate us.
Being blunt (to the point) and not for Blunt I support Chuck Pergason and that is about as blunt as I can be.

All of this decades old talk about how the candidate with the most money wins and when it comes down to election day, we(conservatives) must vote for the “republican” that has the best chance to win so the democrat won’t win, blah, blah, blah… and that we Must choose between two evils, blah, blah, blah…. in my opinion is, is exactly why we have a progressive majority congress(BOTH parties)! It’s STINKING THINKING that manifest into reality on election day because the sheople are manipulated into voting for the RINO that the GOP ESTABLISHMENT shoves in our faces. We should be uniting, especially now that we have the Tea Party Movement, and voting for the candidate that we all want, REGARDLESS OF MONEY! If everyone would ignore the media, the ads and the endorsements of RINO’s by “some” Tea Party coordinators and spokespersons or Tea Party celebrities such as Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, etc, and other RINO’s like Newt Gingrich we could successful. I don’t care what the naysayers say. Just vote for THE MOST CONSERVATIVE candidate! Use word of mouth to tell everyone you can. We need to teach the GOP and the rest of the elites that we will not play by their rules, nor vote for whoever the hell they put on the ticket anymore! That’s what got us into this mess. Why are so many so-called conservatives and even Tea Partiers still insisting that “THIS ONE LAST TIME” we must pick the best of two evils, even if it’s a damn RINO, to get a “GOP MAJORITY” so that we can “Take back our country?” BULL! That will only result in a PROGRESSIVE MAJORITY CONGRESS and the end of our republic!
RINO’s GAVE US No Child Left Behind, Patriot Act, an ineligable POTUS, Tarp, Stimulus, Cap and Tax, ObamaCare, Financial Reform, liberal supreme court justices, etc, etc, etc. They contributed to every one of these unconstitutional violations either directly or indirectly and with hardly a fight on any! Even if they were outnumbered in congress, what was stopping them from screaming and yelling from the roof tops, on every TV show they could get on, even pulling Joe Wilsons and outing Obama, etc on live TV. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! In my opinion, there are only a handful of GOPers that deserve re-election, much less a promotion! Blunt is DEFINATELY ONE OF THEM!
Clarification: Blunt IS NOT one of the GOPers that deserve the be elected! Blunt needs to go home!
Jedidiah – What’s the real issue here? Is it support for Tea Party principles or the fear that Purgason is going to lose to Blunt? We all support Tea Party principles, so what you are really protesting is Purgason’s impending defeat. Get over it. Pick your self up; do something constructive: work for Prop C this weekend.
We, when united with vigilance, truths and magnanimity we conquer the wrath of narcissist audacity. When divided in self-regarded triumph, we diminish respect for prevalent purpose, pleasuring our resistance. Knowing when times require exceptional acts, it is our duty to carry out and to uphold for all mankind, as this is what sets us apart from the extremist profound oppositions to our Freedom and our Liberty. Now is one of those exceptional times, a time when respect is due for all whom represented with prevalent purpose. With kind consideration, I pray our exceptionality will be granted, once again…
Jack, “what you are really protesting is Purgason’s impending defeat. Get over it. Pick your self up; do something constructive: work for Prop C this weekend.”
What kind of ridiculousness is that? If you truly supported Tea Party Principles, you would not say something like that to Jedidiah in response to this article. You seem to be happy about Blunts “expected” win. We’ll see the results Wednesday! And I’ll say this, Any Tea Partier that votes for Blunt is a fraud!
Furthermore, let’s look at reality here. Prop C is going to pass easily as it is, so who’s truly wasting their time? The Prop C folks, not the folks Standing for Tea Party Principles on Saturday!
Perhaps someone is using the Prop C push on Saturday to draw Tea Party bodies away from the Standing for Tea Party Principles Protest. I mean, if we were to get a thousand people or more out there the media coverage may steer some of those BLUNT sheople votes to Perguson…. Hmmmmm…..
What do you guys plan to accomplish with this? Have you stopped to think about that? Don’t bite your nose of to spite your face. Fact is, Purgason would alienate moderate and independent voters and thus, lose to Robin. Roy will vote the way you want a lot more than Robin. That’s the issue at the heart of this. Roy is our best shot at getting a conservative voice in the Senate. There is too much at stake this time. Remember Perot and Steelman.
Arlene –I will ask what many are thinking and are too polite to ask — and that is, what are you saying?
At my age of 76 and having studied some writing and speech making years ago along with some grammar, I just don’t quite follow, exactly what you wish to expound.
Always write on a blog such as this, so that we of a simple mind (me) can fathom what you are saying. Perhaps I need to go back for a refresher course.
Has anyone seen this latest poll: http://rebootcongress.blogspot.com/2010/07/purgason-v-carnahan-poll.html
Seems to me that issouri is being bamboozled into electing even more RINO’s to add to the D.C Kitty! Vote conservative or just adit that you’re a damn progressive already!
Stupid is as stupid does!
Arlene – your summary from writings of Jefferson and Adams is done well. Keep the spirit and good work going.
It is NOT COnSTITUTIONAL for any government to tell us what to buy…even if we can’t afford it…or go to jail….what country did your parents fight for? If you don’t vote for Prop C, you are enslaving people to government control, the ruin of their families, and opening the door to more treason to come. STOP THIS NOW FOR EVER OR YOU WILL FOREVER BE SORRY!
Both Purgason and Blunt Fail as Tea Party Candidates
Two of the main platforms for Purgason is that he is for term limits and he is against tax credits for special groups (Ford filibuster).
If you truly go through Purgason’s state congressional record you will find that throughout his career it appears that he has been self-serving by introducing legislation that benefits him directly. It is common knowledge that Chuck Purgason operates an 800-acre hunting preserve. He raises Quail & Pheasants (wildlife). He also owns a calf/cow business. He is the Owner/Founder of Ozark Wings Hatchery/Hunting Preserve Calf/Cow Farm. If he is against term limits, then why did Purgason sponsor a bill (SJR 46) in 2008 requesting that term limits be extended from 8 to 12 years in each house? (Added note: During his first 7 years in the State house he sponsored/cosponsored only 8 pieces of legislation. It wasn’t until 2004 ,i.e., election year, did he start presenting legislation at more than 1 bill a year.).
On Purgason’s website he states:. “I believe tax credits are one way that government picks winners and losers in a free market system……….. but to allow government to give special favors and monetary advantages is not a level playing field.”
His record will show that many times Chuck Purgason has introduced and re-introduced legislation that attempted to give businesses like his tax credits, tax breaks, waiving of permits, and exemptions from current health, zoning laws and the paying of sales tax. All you would need to do is look up SB428 (2007) at the Missouri Senate website. It is a bill that is has been tailored-made for an owner of hatchery/hunting preserve/ calf/cow operation. I wonder if Purgason has filed a single written report stating his personal or private interest in a bill that might benefit him personally prior to passing foward any of the many bills in question. Per the Missouri revised Statute Chapter 105 Public Officers and Employees–Miscellaneous Provisions-Section 105.461, he would have been required to do so.
On Blunt’s website you find…
Blunt taking credit for leading the charge on health care. Of the 13 bills he listed as “his” plan, he only sponsored two. Many of the remaining bills he did not co-sponsor until 3-8 month after the bill was introduced. This congressional session (111th) Blunt has only sponsored only 7 bills and co-sponsored 245 bills. The average for the 111th Session is 18 sponsored and 325 bills co-sponsored by the rest of the House members. Missouri is getting on the average 25% less representation than the other 49 states. If he is leading the charge then he is doing it from the rear.
At the state level, Purgason faired even worse. He sponsored or co-sponsored only 10 bills combined during this year session while the Senate members’ average was just under 25 bills combined. In Purgason, his district and the state of Missouri had a senator operating at a 40% clip of average.
Granted sponsoring bills are only a part of being an effective legislator. But both candidates claim they are most qualified to represent and lead Missouri. Based on their effort in introducing legislature, they should both add most-qualified time clock-puncher to their resumes.
George – I am not going to check all your references as I did vote for and supported Purgason, I am not a fan of Blunt’s whatsoever.
Regardless your long tirade misses the point of being a good legislator completely — you are judging by the number of bills submitted, co sponsored, etc. For me I want someone who sponsors little if anything, we have more than enough laws on the books now (lawyers love to pass bills)
If you study the bills and them being made into Statutes we can use less and we need legislators to go thru the statutes and get rid of ones they don’t need.
As an example Griesheimer (who I would never vote for)
pushed thru bills we don’t need. I spent some time studying the statutes on the pay of county commissioners and there are three that are somewhat similar but also somewhat contradictory. Pray tell me why these weren’t made into one logical one?
A final word for prayer for the family of Dave Schatz who just won his primary, with the tragic death of his son. They being a good Christian family know their son Daniel is now in heaven with our Lord Jesus.
